Vietnamese indigenous chickens, mitochondrial genome phylogenetic relationshipsAbstract
In this study, the complete nucleotide sequence of the naked neck chicken mitochondrial genome, a Vietnamese indigenous chicken in Que Phong district, Nghe An province was determined by the Sanger sequencing method, analyzed structure and used to evaluate the phylogenetic relationship with different chicken breeds. The mitochondrial genome of naked neck chicken has a size of 16.785 bp, including 22 transfer RNA genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes, 13 protein-coding genes and 1 non-coding control region (D-loop). The proportion of A, T, G and C nucleotides were 30.28%, 23.75%, 13.48% and 32.48%, respectively. The mitochondrial genome sequence of the naked neck chicken was registered on GenBank with the accession number PQ412228. The analysis of phylogenetic relationships showed that the naked neck chicken originated from the red jungle fowl subspecies Gallus gallus spadiceus. The naked neck chicken was closely related to Vietnamese chicken breeds: Mong, Dong Tao and Cao Son dwarf chicken and Chinese chicken breeds: Rugao Yellow and Xiaoxang chicken.
