The study aimed to determine the drought tolerance and restoration ability of 150 local rice at the National Crop Genebank by artificial drought treatment at different growth stages. The results showed that the different varieties responded differently to drought conditions at each growth stage. 28 rice cultivars at germination stage; 22 at the third leaf stage; 51 at tillering stage; 4 at heading stage respectively, with good drought tolerance. Special, 2 local rice varieties (Tam den Hai Phong, Te le Hoa Binh) had good drought tolerance (at all three growth stages: Three - leaf seedling stage, tillering stage and flowering stage), 2 local rice varieties (Mot bui, Neang con) had good drought tolerance (at all 2 stages: Tillering stage and flowering stage). These four varieties: Tam den Hai Phong (Acc. No 253), Te le Hoa Binh (Acc. No 553), Mot bui (Acc. No 2332) and Neang con (Acc. No 12068) had higher yield or equivalent to CH5 control variety (3.13 tons/ha) under artificial drought conditions.
