Selection of some typical native plant species that have the criteria of urban green tree, possible to plant on the streets and parks in Son Tra district, Da Nang city

Abstract

This paper presents the results of selection of some typical native plant species that have  the criteria of urban green trees, capable of migratory planting in parks and streets of Son Tra district, Da Nang city by opinions of experts and using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP-AHP plus). In the study area, we investigated 4 main lines, 24 side lines, and sample plots where there were 27 plant species belonging to 17 families, satisfied 7 criteria of urban green tree. Since then, the study has selected 10 species with the ability to plant include: Millettia nigrescens Gagn.; Dipterocarpus turbinatus C. F. Gaertn; Gardenia philastrei Pierre ex Pit.; Rothmannia eucodon (K. Schum.) Bremek.; Parashorea stellsta Kurz; Camellia vietnamensis T. C. Huang; Cratoxylum cochinchinense (Lour.) Blume; Dalbergia duperreana Pierre; Syzygium syzygioides (Miq.) Merr. & L. M. Perry and Syzygium jambos (L.) Alston. This is the basis for proposing the selection of tree species and building actual planting models in parks and streets of Son Tra district, Da Nang city in order to increase the beauty of the urban landscape in the study area.
