Abstract

Macadamia nuts in Vietnam currently only use the macadamia kernel, while the fresh peel, which accounts for about 20 - 30%, has not been paid attention to and used effectively. The objective of this study is to study and develop the process for production of animal feed for pigs with the addition of fresh macadamia peel. Research results have determined that the formula for producing animal feed for piglets is 43% yellow corn, dried cassava 15%, rice bran 2%, rice 1%, soy beans 12%, silver carp 10%, and bones buffalo 10%, macadamia peel 5% and biological products 2%. Animal feed for growing pigs is yellow corn 50%, dried cassava 15%, rice bran 2%, rice 1%, soy beans 5%, silver carp 8%, buffalo bones 11%, macadamia peel 6% and biological products 2%. Animal feed for fattening pigs is yellow corn 54%, dried cassava 17%, rice bran 2%, rice 1%, soy beans 6%, silver carp 5%, buffalo bones 7%, macadamia peel 6% and biological products 2%. Animal feed for pigs is fermented at a temperature of 32oC, the fermentation time is 120 hours, dried at a temperature of 45 - 50oC for 10 hours and the humidity reaches 13 - 14%.
