Our country's processing of wood and wood products is developing strongly, meeting the increasing demand of the domestic and export markets for forest products. Therefore, the demand for raw wood for processing is very high at the current period. To what extent is domestic production forest plantation capable of meeting the demand for wood processing? What gaps exist, and what solutions are there to increase the supply of planted forest wood for processing? From a nationwide overview and research in several provinces representing production forest plantation regions, based on analysis of the current situation, the article has shown that raw wood does not meet the needs for processing, low legality and some other limitations of raw wood from protection forest plantation for processing in the context of implementing EVFTA and timber legality. This study also identified the gap between demand and the ability to supply raw wood in quantity and quality and gaps in ensuring timber legality from household production forest timber supplies. From there, three solution groups are proposed, focusing on increasing the supply of raw wood from production forests, ensuring suitable wood, and policy recommendations.
