Abstract

The experiment was carried out to evaluate the effects of organic fertilizer produced from sugarcane top and leaf residue on the growth, yield and quality of sugarcane under irrigated and non-irrigated farming in Ngoc Lac district, Thanh Hoa province. The experiment was conducted with 7 treatments including 2 control treatments: Control 1 (300 kg N + 150 kg P2O5 + 300 kg K2O/ha), this served as base fertilizers and Control 2 (base fertilizers + manure (10 tons/ha) and 5 experimental treatments (base fertilizers + different level of organic fertilizers made from sugarcane tops and leaves: 3.0; 6.0; 9.0, 12.0 and 15.0 tons/ha). Research results show that organic fertilizer produced from sugarcane tops and leaves had a significant impact on growth, development, yield and quality of sugarcane. Based on the correlation between the amount of organic fertilizer and sugarcane yield under irrigated and non-irrigated conditions, the amounts of fertilizer for maximum the sugarcane yield was determined at 12.50 tons/ha (under irrigated condition) and 12.47 tons/ha (under non-irrigation condition); the amounts of fertilizer for optimum economic was determined at 11.10 tons/ha (under irrigated condition) and 11.54 tons/ha (under non-irrigated condition).
